This is one of those occasions. Free Language Version 2 was just released last night. It is built using Drupal 4.7.

Learn English

Learn French

Learn German

Learn Russian

Learn Spanish

For all the Drupalers out there, Free Language v2 is running Drupal 4.7 and following contributed modules were used to beef it out:

aggregator2

captcha

emailpage

google analytics

insert_block

pathauto (to the max)

poormanscron

simplenews

sitemenu

tagadelic

I tried to keep contrib mods to a minimum while still maximizing the site's functionality.

I am going to upgrade to Drupal 5 as soon as I can get some funds together to commission the upgrade of aggregator2 to Drupal 5. Or perhaps someone will decide to just do it!

"Hydrogen is advanced drum machine software that provides intuitive pattern-based programming. It is fast, with graphical interface based on QT 3 and can import sound samples in .wav, .au, .aiff and supports samples in compressed FLAC files. Hydrogen will play multiple patterns at once with the ability to weave patterns into a song. There are thirty-two instrument tracks with volume, mute, solo, and pan capabilities. When you're finished you can export your song to a .wav or .midi file."

Mixxx reads most popular sound formats, including MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Wave and Aiff. For communication Mixxx supports MIDI and standard input devices such as Joysticks and mice.

"OpenSebJ is a free real time audio sample mixer that runs on Microsoft Windows. The source code for OpenSebJ is released under the GNU General Public License.

Features include:
(o) Supports loading of 255 Audio samples (wave format), which can be played in real time
(o) Sample properties such as, Volume, Pan and Frequency can be adjusted individually for each sample (even during mid play)
(o) A composition tool is provided, presented in a familiar multi-track sequencer environment. Looping compositions are also supported.
(o) Samples can be linked to keys on the keyboard and trigged in real time when a key press occurs
(o) Each sample can also have the play cursor position adjusted while the sample is playing, to provide a virtual needle to be moved
(o) Stream to disk recording, allows all audio played from OpenSebJ to be saved
(o) Pitch shifter roll, allows an order to be setup, so that each time a sample is played the next pitch shift in the sequence is undertaken before the sample is played. I.e. set up a sample to key '1', then setup a pitch shift sequence, high, mid, low, higher etc (using frequency values which are transposed to on screen 'ranges' to allow easier utilisation)"
